I am a fun-loving person who likes to stay on the positive side of things and laugh a lot. Joking around is my default personality. I feel like laughter and music is life and can change any mood.
I keep myself busy with work, my family and friends, and writing. Those closest to me are the most important in my life. I am an animal lover as well, especially dogs. We have a Pit Bull/Labrador and he is the most loving animal you’ll ever meet. It really depends on the owner how your dog will behave. We’ve trained our dog to give high fives and kisses.
LOL, I’m trying to convince my husband for another dog, it’s been in progress for almost two years now… and I can’t honestly say I’m wearing him down. LOL
When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?
I realized I wanted to be a writer after I read a few books on Wattpad. Reading the stories I ended up with ideas of my own and had nowhere to put them until I mustered up the courage to write them down and publish them on Wattpad.
When did you write your first book and how old were you?
My first book, Dreadful Desire, is still ongoing. I started writing Dreadful Desire on April 25, 2020, at the young age of 41. It’s still ongoing as the ideas haven’t stopped popping in my head.
How long does it take to write?
For me, it depends on the chapter. Some chapters flow out of me within minutes while others take a few days to get right. Even then I will reread the chapter and see something I want to change.
What do you like to do when you’re not writing?
When I’m not writing I love to cuddle with my dog, spend time with my family/friends, and exploring new recipes. I enjoy cooking from scratch when I have the time to do so.
What was one of the most surprising you learned in creating your book?
I’m surprised at how much I enjoy writing it, I use it as my therapy when work overwhelms me. I’m also very surprised at how much I love interacting with my readers. I love reading their comments, responding, and enjoying the playfulness of the readers.
What do you think makes a good story?
I think a good story has to have development; development of the character and the plot, there should be some mystery and it should be intriguing. A story should make people actually want to read.
As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?
As a child, I always wanted to be a veterinarian. Animals have always been a soft spot for me. I love them and always want to cuddle and take care of them.
What quote inspired you and do you live by?
Be the change you want to see in the world and the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Both quotes deal with change. Whether changing yourself or circumstances, positive change is good.
What Movie or series character would you say describe you as a person?
My husband says I am Joy from the movie Inside Out because I’m always looking to the positive side of things, I always try to make people happy and I make kids laugh.
What song inspires you?
Ooo, this is a hard one. It really depends on my mood. Most of the time I am either listening to R&B or Dance music. But my playlist is eclectic as I like music from all over.
When you wrote your first book. What inspired the story?
I think what inspired my story as I read a few books on Wattpad and they mostly center on a male main character who essentially wanted a female that he had to stay away from but ultimately ended up with and she helped him to become a better man. So I was inspired to write it but in reverse. My main character is a female who does not have her life together. She is learning as she goes and it’s a bumpy road. She makes mistakes, tries to learn from them, makes them again but eventually, she learns much like in real life.
What inspired your characters in your first book and were they based on people in your life?
I wanted to tell my story in reverse, a messed-up female lead who had to learn the ropes in life.
My characters are somewhat based on people in my life. Different personality traits come from different people in my life including myself. For example, Chloe is stubborn, which comes from my mother, she is one stubborn woman. LOL, I love her but she is a bull. Chloe can also be a bit dorky sometimes and that is completely me. It all depends on what part of the character you’re talking about to know who it may be based on or if it’s just something that rummaged around in my head.
Would you change anything from your first book?
I find myself still rereading chapters and finding little things that can be improved on. I always want to change things. I’ll be sitting down doing something and thought will hit me and I’ll chastise myself for not thinking of it earlier.
If there is a message in any of your books, what would you like people to take away from reading your book?
I think I have a few messages, we all come into our own at our own time, forgiveness is something we all must learn to give to others and especially ourselves if we truly want happiness in our life. I feel these are the two main messages from my book.
Why is reading a book better than watching a movie?
I think reading a book is better than watching a movie because there is so much more detail in a book and some things just cannot translate to the movie screen.
If they make a movie of your book who would you like to play your main character.
For Axle Cross I would love for my muse to play him which would be Stephen James Hendry and for Chloe Knox, I would love to play her role. LOL
Do you like to read ebooks or paperback?
It depends on the book. If it’s a book I really love then I want it in paperback. If it’s a book just to pass the time then an ebook is fine with me.
Who is your favorite author?
My favorite author is Lisa Gardner. She writes some intense thriller mystery books. The first book I read from her started with someone entering a courthouse, getting shot and then the person who was shooting blew up when they entered their car. She caught me and I’ve been a fan of her’s ever since.
Tell the people about your book and what it is about.
The book is about exploration, trust, evolving as a person, and finding yourself no matter how long it takes. Chloe’s process is slow, she didn’t have someone to guide her on how to deal with her feelings so she chooses what comes naturally as we all do. It’s about putting a light on women and saying it’s okay to not have yourself together. Take your time, do it at your own pace as long as you are working on yourself.
Any unknown author you would recommend.
I would recommend Jessica Loveless, LaurieBeth5, and Queen of Desires all from Wattpad.
