L Morrison

A Scottish Biomedical Science student who loves to read, write, and disappear into a different world for a while.

Wife, mother of two boys, aerialist, and dancer.

I started writing around nine months ago, a hobby to pass time between studying, de-stressing, and escaping the hectic life. I’m a sucker for a dark romance, hence my pen name on Wattpad as _Dark_Romantic

When did you realize you wanted to be a writer?

I never actually planned on becoming a writer, I just played around with Wattpad one day because I couldn’t find a certain type of story I wanted.

When did you write your first book and how old were you?

In December 2019, I was 27. I wrote a book about a kidnapping, pretty dark too. That was my first attempt ever at writing, and next came my Trapped Series.

How long does it take to write?

Depending on how quiet my house is, or where my mind is at, I can write a chapter out in an hour or sometimes it can take me days.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’m a Biomed student, so when I’m not writing, I study. I also have a husband and kids, so I have my hands full.

What was one of the most surprising you learned in creating your book?

My mind can go to some dark places, I surprise myself.

What do you think makes a good story?

For me, there needs to be drama, a lot of it. Some action, tension, heaps of sex, even dominating in some ways too.

As a child, what did you want to do when you grew up?

When I was a child, I always wanted to be a vet. I got close while I was studying, but I took a swerve to biomedical science last minute.

What quote inspired you and your life by?

Too many quotes I see has my eyebrow-raising or my eye twitching at how close it is to me.

What Movie or series character would you say describe you as a person?

I hope not Ron Weasley, even if I look like the little fucker. I’ll settle for being the Peewee Herman of the group.

What song inspires you?

I listen to a lot of music, but while writing I mainly listen to orchestra type songs like 2WEI, piano, guitar. Anything that gives me the feels of the scene I’m trying to picture, helps.

When you wrote your first book. What inspired the story?

My first book, The Kidnapping, well… let’s say it wasn’t from real life shit or I’d be pretty messed up. There’s nothing that inspired it, I just typed what came to my mind.

I would rather explain my second since the kidnapping is no longer active. I started writing Zara, book one of my trapped series, with the intention of it being a short story about a girl who’s stuck in a love triangle, then BOOM, it’s now on its fourth book. So, no, these were again just sprouted out my brain as I typed.

What inspired your characters in your first book and were they based on people in your life?

I made Zara’s character the opposite of most characters in books I’ve read, not some sweet innocent girl involved with a bad boy, but the total opposite, although I get feedback from book one of how hated she is, that’s my intent to have her that way and build her up as the books go on. NO REGRETS.

If there is a message in any of your books, what would you like people to take away from reading your book?

I wrote a short story called The Unwanted, which will be my first book to be published in the future. The story has a message in it that even after being abused in a relationship, there is hope for a happy ever after.

Why is reading a book better than watching the movie?

You have your own imagination, what one person can read from a scene, will picture it differently to the next person, which I love.

If they make a movie of your book who would you like to play your main character.

I’d love to watch from the outside if my books were ever a movie.

Do you like to read ebooks or paperback?

Both, but I prefer holding the book. I feel there is more of a connection.

Who is your favourite author?

Published authors, JoJo Moyes by far is my favourite! On Wattpad, I have far too many.

Tell the people about your book and what it is about.

The Unwanted I had already explained above, so I can explain a bit about the trapped series. Zara and Theo are my MCs, Zara is annoying as hell, but she is built up gradually. It’s a dystopian action-romance series, twisted, full of sex and secrets. I’m a sucker for cliff hangers too, oops. They are trapped within walls with a group called A-centre hunting them down, but the enemy is closer to Zara than he thinks. There are shitloads of death, drama, pain, heartbreak, and love.

Any unknown author you would recommend.

I have far too many to list off. So, if you click on my link to Wattpad, you will find a list of my favourites.

I always saw love as this romantic word to describe appreciation, passion, a healthy relationship that could lead to marriage and children. Movies and romantic novels always paint it so perfectly, and most people are lucky enough to find this type of love.

I had absolutely no idea that it could drive someone so insane they would strip everything about you away, your identity, every damn thing. And, who knew that it could result in so much pain, conflict, and fear? He would fuck me into oblivion, make me beg for release, beg him for pleasure, beg him for real loyalty.

My name is Aria, and please do not read my story with the expectation of true romance, rainbows, and cute shit.

Love is dangerous.

Trust is a weakness.

Possession is a toxic game.

I have an uncomfortable front-row seat, pulled up on the fucking stage with the bastard himself, tormenting, haunting me. Everyone loved him, blinded by the mask he wore but took off behind closed doors. He loves me, but in his own fucked up deranged way. I somehow managed to fall for the false promises from him, short-lived promises that he scrunched up and threw in my face.

Everything was good, until the tell-tale signs of control got stronger, destructive, violent. His twisted thoughts led to so much carnage, unforgivable consequences.

Did he care? Unless it involved me, nothing else mattered to him.

I did the one thing that resulted in my world blowing.

I left him.
